Charitable giving to Marillac Clinic makes good sense...
Marillac Clinic has a long and well-deserved reputation for responsible stewardship of charitable gifts. We are honored by the outpouring of generosity from our community and we work hard every day to make sure that your gifts are used prudently and to deliver our services in the most effective and efficient manner.
Many loyal Marillac Supporters who give on a regular basis would like to leave a more lasting gift to support the Clinic and the programs that mean so much to their less fortunate fellow citizens and neighbors. Gifts can always be made in your name, or to honor or memorialize a dear friend or family member.
For details on the best way to for you to participate in a planned giving program with Marillac Clinic, contact Kristy Schmidt at 970-298-2877. Of course, it is always a good idea to consult your own tax professional.
A Gift of Cash
Cash contributions are always deductible as an itemized deduction in the year you make the donation, up to a total of 50 percent of your adjusted gross income.
Many Marillac supporters have made provisions for the Clinic in their wills. This may also have tax benefits for your estate and heirs.
A Gift of Securities
The most advantageous stocks to include in a gift to the Clinic are those that have increased in value. A charitable gift of mutual fund shares provides the same tax advantages as a gift of appreciated stock.
A Gift of Life Insurance
You can contribute a life insurance policy to us by naming us as either the owner of the policy or simply as the beneficiary. If Marillac is named as owner and beneficiary, in most cases, you will be entitled to an income tax deduction limited to the lower of the fair market value of the policy or your cost basis in the contract. In addition, if you continue to pay premiums on a policy that we own, you can deduct the future premium payments.
A Gift of Real Estate
If you own property free and clear that has appreciated in value, a charitable gift of real estate, can be a good option. You can claim an income tax deduction for property held for more than one year based upon the fair market value of the property, avoid all capital gains taxes and remove that asset from your taxable estate. There are other options for a charitable gift of real estate, that your financial planner can share with you.
Life Income Gifts
Life income gifts allow you to receive an income as a result of making a charitable gift. Depending upon the type of plan you choose, the payments can be fixed or variable and can be for you or other beneficiaries as well. Again, your financial planner should be able to guide you as to what plan might best suit your needs.
